Alternatives

Unfortuanelty there doesn’t seem to be that many open source HR systems. If I’ve missed any, leave a comment and I’ll update the list. You could also look at open source CRM’s and ERP as atlernative to purely HR oriented system. Systems such as V.tiger could do some of the donkey work.

  1. How do you rate the Sugar Open Source project for managing HRM? How does it compare to OrangeHRM?

  2. Aaron - We looked at OrangeHRM and it didn’t meet our clients requirements. Decided, to built one from scratch.

As for Sugar CRM, we use vTiger at Terinea as you don’t pay for the office, thunderbird and firefox plugins.

Not sure how this would scale for a HR system.

  3. Do all these hr solutions have performance review capabilities, up until now we have been using an oracle based hr system plugged in with a 360 degree feedback online system from reactive360.com, so we are keen to investigate other routes to make sure we are using the most competitive toolset even though the reactive system is much cheaper than other solutions out there

  4. I just started to make a blog on freeware Human Resources software in order to help new employers, starting businesses, small companies, … to streamline their Human Resources Department without spending money for those resources they might need.
As a HR-manager and SAP HR certified consultant I add weekly an interesting freeware software dealing with HR-issues.
