How good is your business blog - August
By Jamie | September 5, 2007
How good is your business blog is a monthly review on Terinea Weblog progress. I have listed a number of methods to measuring your blog progress. Keeping a record on your blog progress helps to give you encouragement in the early days and hope for the future.
A 0.3 increase on last months 2.6 Blog Juice, a massive increase in the number of visitors and page impressions. Technorati authority and rank continues to increase as normal and comments is making good progress. The only thing that concerns me is the number of RSS subscriptions is rather small. I think combined with bloglines and Feedburner subscriptions I have about 30 readers, which I really appreciate, please drop me a comment so I can visit your blog!

We use Google Analytics
Technorati
Feedburner Subscriptions and number of comments per month (excluding Terinea’s)
On this subject anyone have a good comment plugin that measures your stats?

Interesting Facts. You’re doing a great job to get a juice rating of 3.0 in such a short period of time. The rating for my own Blog is hovering at 1.4. So I ran a comparison of our two sites for interest:
http://theitmanagersjournal.blogspot.com
Juice: 1.4
Bloglines Subscribers: 12
Alexa: 1,070,060
Technorati Rating: 434,733
Technorati Links: 48
http://www.terinea.co.uk/blogs/
Juice: 3.0
Bloglines Subscribers: 11
Alexa: 123,513
Technorati Rating: 71,834
Technorati Links: 349
The biggest obvious difference seems to be the Alexa rating at where your rating is almost 10 times better than mine and you are clearly doing something right with Technorati - are there tips to be gained here?
Keep up the great work.

Jamie,
Don’t fall into the trap of getting hung up on RSS readership! Some blogs take longer than others to build their readership up just due to the nature of the blog and the audience.
I had the same issue with my blog, everything looking good except the readership. I just ignore the readership now.

Looks like you’re seeing consistent growth… this is a great blog, so it doesn’t surprise me at all. I wouldn’t worry about RSS… I’ve never really understood it and I think most people are the same way. It will come with time, just keep up the great work!

Jason - Regarding the Alexa improvement, some of my posts are getting 500 hits a month from search engines, long tail searches.
Technorati improvment is a steady process that simply comes from people linking to you. I see your Technorati is improving all the time, 15 at the moment? Remember back in April I had a similar rank, so it will come Jason.
I think your posts on IT issues will create search engine traffic i.e. long. Writing advice posts combined with the Monk will create Technorati improvements.
Dave RH - Thanks for the tips, I’ll try not getting to hung up on the RSS front. I suppose that’s why its important to measure other aspects to keep your motivation going. I know a number of friends, including the girlfriend read the blog but don’t actually understand the whole RSS thing.
Aaron - Thanks
Pat - Like your blog, you now have a new reader!
Danielle - Your blog has exploded in popularity, would be nice to see some stats for yours?
