Making Facebook a little more Private
By Jamie | December 11, 2007
You’ve probably heard that Facebook has been getting some bad press over its Beacon Advertisement system, but what actually is it?
After weeks of hand wrangling, Facebook has finally granted users the option of turning off Beacon, a controversial new advertising platform that notifies Facebook users’ friends of purchases they may have made on various external sites.
When you purchase from a online company that is using Facebook Beacon, the action or purchase can automatically be fed straight into your Facebook feed. Although this isn’t done secretly, you have the chance to opt out on the third part website, we all know how quickly we click on the button labelled “Yes”, “Agree” or “Next” without a seconds thought.
So, if you have a Facebook account and you’re a little concerned, you might want to click on the link below and disable this feature from within Facebook.
