Getting your lazy co-workers to help with the business blog
By Jamie | August 1, 2007
Sick of being the only one writing your company blog site, here are a couple of ways to get your co-workers working for you on the blogsphere.
Okay not really a fair assessment of my co-workers, but after reading David Airey Top 7 blog mistakes to avoid, I wanted a more snapper title than a post titled “5 ways to get your co-workers…blah blah”. Maybe print this out and stick on their computer monitor?
As non-blogging co-workers you can help your company blogger by doing the following
- Leave comments on blogs that are industry related, existing clients, prospective clients, local interests etc.
- Highlight material that might form an interesting post for the blog
- Along the similar lines as above, add to your companies delicious account for the daily/weekly links post
- Sign in using the companies MyBlogLog and BlogCatalog accounts to increase exposure of your company avatar.
- When leaving comments in forums use the blog URL as part of the signature.
- Install the Alex toolbar and set the company blog as the homepage.
- Read the company blog, leave comments and provide offline feedback
- Submit your posts to social bookmarking sites such as delicious, digg and reddit.
- Check through emails to see if solutions to clients problems can be turned into a blog post. I often do this myself as a way of make our clients feel a little bit special that I have taken time to blog about their IT issues.
- The next person you hire write it into their contract that not blogging is a sack able offence. Then patrol around the office making sure everyone is blogging, pretty much like this guy does.
